Employers
Many employers throughout Oxfordshire, both large and small, already support the work that OEBP does with schools. Preparation for working life is of increasing importance within the school curriculum, and we need more employers to get involved. Can you help?
What is involved?
There are many different ways in which employers can help, and the time commitment is completely up to you:
- Offering work experience placements for young people.
- Helping with all kinds of activities run in or out of school to suport work-related learning and develop enterprise skills: for example, running a workshop on a particular aspect of business, working as a facilitator with a group of young people. offering interview practice, mentoring a student...
- Offering a professional development placement for teachers: a chance for a group of teachers of vocational subjects to spend a day in your business to update their knowledge and develop relevant examples and resources to use in the classroom.
What are the advantages for employers?
- Helping the local community
- Developing the profile of your company within local schools
- Helping to develop the skills and attitudes that young people need to be successful in working life - positive thinking, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills
- Staff development opportunities for your young managers
- Understanding the young people who will be your future customers and employees
