Support for schools
OEBP runs a range of events to support schools in preparing students for adult life and the world of work, and can help schools to deliver work-related learning and enterprise education.
Work-related learning
Work-related learning (WRL) is a statutory requirement for all students at KS4. It involves learning ‘about work’, ‘through work’ and ‘for work’. OEBP can help schools audit their WRL provision and can deliver activities which enhance employability skills and support vocational courses.
Enterprise education
Enterprise education is a key aspect of WRL, and all students at KS4 have an entitlement to the equivalent of five days’ enterprise activity. Enterprise skills and entrepreneurial attitudes are developed through three core strands: enterprise capability, financial capability and business and economic understanding. OEBP can support schools with programmes which give students the opportunity to develop these skills and attitudes, and can help schools review how enterprise can become embedded in the curriculum.
Activity programmes
OEBP offers a range of programmes, and programmes can be adapted or developed to suit the particular needs of your school. In all cases, local business people will be involved, to help bring the world of work to life.
Examples of activities to support WRL include:
- Work Experience Preparation/Debrief
- Get Ready for Work
- Vocational Workshops
- Group Interviews
- Presentation Skills
- How Science Works
OEBP also offers a range of one-day enterprise events for Y9 and KS4, and The Business of Enterprise, which can deliver the full five-day enterprise entitlement.
